lpmass.org is the current location for the website of the
Libertarian Party of Massachusetts.
For many years, the Libertarian Party of Massachusetts has used the
URL lpma.org. Unfortunately, past LPMass state committees
failed to secure ownership of lpma.org in the name of the
State Party. Instead, they left it in the name of a private member,
Mr. Muni Savyon.
Your State Committee has repeatedly requested Mr. Savyon to transfer
ownership of the URL, that he was trusted to keep, to the Libertarian
Party of Massachusetts State Committee. These requests included both
requests directly from the State Committee and via
intermediaries. Mr. Savyon has refused to do so.
Instead, Mr. Savyon has used the lpma.org web site to
propagandize for
a Republican Presidential candidate,
many of whose
well-known public stands
(for example,
- on Don't Ask, Don't Tell,
- on immigration,
- and on separation of Church and State)
are absolutely contrary to Libertarian positions,
and whom the Libertarian Party
may or may not be legally allowed
to place on the ballot in some states.
Your current Party State Committee regrets to report that the lack of
legal documentation on ownership of the lpma.org URL does not
appear to leave us with any legal recourse in this unfortunate
situation.
Perhaps some of you who know Mr. Savyon may persuade him to return to
the Libertarian Party of Massachusetts the property rights that most
Libertarians have long believed our party already owned. If he does
this then we can arrange for lpma.org and lpmass.org to point
to the same website, and reduce possible confusion about it.
